Learning to organize and care for things - 1 Corinthians 14:40
Have you ever wanted to draw but you couldn’t find your crayons? Or maybe you wanted to play with one of your favorite toys, but it wasn’t where it should be. Perhaps you looked and looked but finally gave up. This happened because you didn’t put those things away the last time you
used them. When we put things where they belong, it saves us time and frustration the next time we want them. Order is important to make life easier.
Order is also important for our safety. Just imagine a world without stop lights or signs. There would be many accidents and people would not be able to find where they wanted to go. We also have order in our schedules. We have watches that help us keep appointments or to know when to get up or go to bed. Without these things life would be confusing and dangerous.
Order is not only necessary, but it is right. Our Creator is a God of order. He has placed things and people exactly where they are for a reason. He has established laws of nature to help things work properly. The sun “rises” in the morning and “sets” at night. Seasons change, seeds grow into plants which in turn produce oxygen and food for us.
GOD SHOWS ORDER IN CREATION
“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” Genesis 1;1 The very first verse in the Bible tells us that God made the earth and everything in it. Your house, cloths, car, watch, TV, computer, school, etc. all had designers and builders. Our bodies and earth are far too complex to have happened by chance. Their Designer and Builder were God. The first chapter of the Bible (Genesis 1) tells us the order in which God made the world.
DAY 1 Genesis 1:3-5
On the very first day God made light and darkness. How did He do it? He just spoke the word and it happened. He can do this because He can do anything. He has all power.
DAY 2 Genesis 1:6-8
On the second day God made the sky above us. He made the clouds and atmosphere above us to supply rain over the land and to filter out the sun’s rays.
DAY 3 Genesis 1:9-13
On this day God separated the land and the seas. Then He covered the land with grass, plants and trees. Everything was lush and green. God, Who is very creative, made all different kinds of flowers, fruits and trees.
DAY 4 Genesis 1:14-18
On the fourth day God made the Sun, Moon and Stars. Plants, which were made the day before, needed sunlight to grow. The moon controls the tides in the sea. God made so many stars that you couldn’t count them if you tried.
DAY 5 Genesis 20-23
On the fifth day God filled the oceans and rivers with fish. He also made all of the different birds – Robins, Orioles, crows, eagles, and chickens.
DAY 6 Genesis 1:24-28
It was on the sixth day that God made all of the insects and land animals. In verse 24 the Bible tells us that they were to multiply “after their kind” (it also says this in verse 21 about birds and fish). This means that animals have babies just like themselves. Evolution says that monkeys developed over millions of years to become men. The Bible tells us this is not true.
(1 Corinthians 15:39) All flesh is not the same flesh; but one kind of flesh of men, and another flesh of beasts, and another of fish, and another of birds.
The Bible tells us that God made man from the dust of the ground and breathed life into him. Later God put Adam to sleep and took one of his ribs to make Eve.
DAY 7 Genesis 2:1-3
On this day God rested. He was NOT tired. This verse simply means that God was done creating. He wants us to take one day a week to rest and to remember Him.
Seven times in Genesis Chapter one God says, “It was good”. The last time He said, “It was very good.” Everything God made was perfect. There was no sickness, suffering or death. Man and animals lived in harmony with each other. The world had order and everything in it worked together. Is that how the world is today? No, it is not. What happened? The Bible tells us that Adam and Eve disobeyed God’s one rule (Genesis 3:1-19) and sin entered the world. From that point on everyone born, except for Jesus, was born with the “want to” to do wrong things. Because we are sinners we hurt others and don’t obey God. This brings disorder and suffering.
The payment for sin is being separated from God forever. God doesn’t want this so He made a way for us to have our sins forgiven. He sent His Precious Son, Jesus, to take our punishment. When we trust Jesus, and ask Him to save us, He does. Then we need to read God’s Word and obey it. Then we will have peace and order. Have you asked Him to save you?
