Why Do I Feel Afraid if Jesus Is With Me?

Jesus is always with us even though we don't see Him and often we don't feel any different.  Jesus wants us to learn to trust Him, to believe and know that He is there.  It's natural to feel afraid.  In fact, being afraid can be good.  We should be afraid of danger.  For example, fear can keep us a safe distance from a mean dog or something else that might hurt us.  God wants our fears to remind us to trust Him.  Being afraid should be a signal to trust God and do what He wants us to do.  But it doesn't mean that Jesus isn't with us.

Why Do Some People Die Before They Are Old?

Death entered the world when sin came in.  Ever since Adam and Eve, pain and death have been part of life.  Eventually, everything that is alive in our world has to die.  Plants die.  Animals die.  People die.  Death can come from a lot of different causes;  automobile accidents, sickness, old age, and so forth.  And life is short, no matter how long a person lives.  Just ask someone who is sixty or seventy or eighty.  Remember that because life is short, we should make the most of every day we are alive.  Each breath is a gift from God.  But also remember that this life is not all there is.  After we die we can live forever with God.

Why Does God Let Us Get Sick?

Sometimes sickiness is the body's way of telling us that we should stop living a certain way.  Perhaps we ate too much (or we ate something bad), or we didn't get enough sleep.  Sickness and diseaseare problems that came into the world with sin.  All kinds of people get sick:  good and bad, rich and poor, old and young.  God wants us to take of ourself and be healthyso we can live for Him.  And when we are sick, we can pray to God and ask Him to help us.

Why is the World So Violent and Evil?

Sin is the root cause of all evil.  Because people sin, the world is filled with sin and evil.  It has been this way since Adam's and Eve's first sin.  In fact, God flooded the world in Noah's day because of violence and evil.  These things are not new.

In some ways it may seem that violence is worse today than in the past.  Weapons are more destructive than ever before.  There are more guns and knives and more ways of hurting people than ever before.  As these weapons get more powerful, so does the power to hurt others.

But in reality, violence and evil come out of evil hearts that are separated from God, and the world has always had that.  AS long as people rebel against God, we will have violence and evil in the world.

Why Are There So Many Accidents and People Getting Killed?

Because of sin in the world.  When God created the world, everything was perfect.  But when the first people disobeyed God, sin threw things out of order.  This is what it means to live in a fallen world.  It is full of dangers.  If it weren't for sin, we would not have suffering or death at all.

Some of our own creations have also brought new dangers.  The fact that we can go faster in cars and planes means that accidents have bigger and worse results.  People also have lots of accidents when they are in a hurry.  As they rush from place to place, they run into others.

It is important to be careful.  This means looking both ways before crossing streets,watching where you are going, wearing seat belts, and using common sense.  As long as accients happen in the world, we must be careful.
