The Bible, God’s Word, tells us of His plan for living.  Since He made us He knows what’s best for us and His plan tells us how we can have His best.  He cares so much for each of us that He has a special plan for each of our lives.

Many people have the wrong idea about God.  Some think that He doesn’t care, that He just made the world and walked away.  Others think that He is too busy with big things to be involved in their personal lives.  Some people don’t even believe that God exists.  These are all wrong.  God did make us, and He cares very deeply about our lives.  The Bible tells us that He even knows how many hairs are on our heads and that He cares about everything in our lives.

GOD’S PLAN FOR YOUR HOME – A Happy marriage and obedient childre

One of the greatest stories in the Bible is found in Genesis.  It is the life of a godly man named Joseph.  Joseph’s family did not follow God’s plan very well.  You see Joseph’s father, Jacob, had four wives.  When God made the world, He made marriage.  He created Adam, a man, and Eve, a woman, and they were the first married couple.  It has always been God’s plan that one man and one woman make a commitment to each other and that they stay married for life.  Who you marry is a very important choice, so you would be wise to ask God to help you make the right choice.  A good marriage takes work.  God uses family life to help us to become more loving like He is.  Marriage was meant to bring joy and happiness that lasts a life time.  (Genesis 2:18-24)

Since Jacob didn’t follow God’s plan, he had many troubles.  His wives didn’t get along with each other and his children often disobeyed.  Jacob was displeased by this, but he didn’t do anything to stop it.  This is another part of God’s plan for your home.  The Bible teaches that children are to obey their parents and that parents are to correct their children when they disobey.  Joseph was obedient to his father, but his older brothers were not.  As they grew, they did more and more bad things.  (Colossians 3:20)

Joseph was Jacob’s favorite son.  He gave him a special coat and treated him better than his other sons.  God gave Joseph dreams as well, signifying that he would be the leader over his brothers.   Eventually, because they were jealous of Joseph, the brothers planned to kill him.  Instead they sold him as a slave.

GOD’S PLAN FOR YOUR HANDS – Do your best in everything you do

Joseph was taken to Egypt were a man name Potiphar bought him.  Now Joseph had to work as a slave.  Joseph could have been lazy, seeing he didn’t deserve to be a slave, but instead he did his very best no matter what job he was given.  Eventually Joseph was placed in charge of all the slaves.  The Bible tells us that God was with him in all that he did.  In time God placed Joseph as second in command of all of Egypt.  This all happened because Joseph worked hard, and he trusted God.

The Bible tells us that we should do our very best no matter what we are given to do.  Do you do your very best in school?  In your homework?  Do you do your very best when you are given a job to do at home, like cleaning your room or taking out the garbage?  God gave us work so that we will get things done that need to be done.  He wants us to help others and to take care of what He has given us.  When we do a good job, we feel good about ourselves.  If you are lazy and don’t care, it will show in your life and attitude.  You will not be truly happy if you are lazy.  (Colossians 3:23)

GOD’S PLAN FOR YOUR HEARTS – Forgive others and don’t hold a grudge

God showed Joseph that there would be seven good years when crops would really grow.  This would be followed by seven bad years when nothing would grow.  Joseph worked hard during the seven good years storing up food for the seven bad years.  When there is no food it is called a famine.  The seven bad years brought famine to Egypt and to the land where Joseph’s father and brothers lived.   Jacob sent his sons to Egypt to buy food.

Joseph was the one you had to buy food from, so the brothers came in and bowed low to him, asking to buy grain.  They did not know it was him!  Many years had gone by and they thought that by now he was dead.  Joseph knew them, though.   He could have had them sold as slaves or even killed, but his heart was right.  He did several things to test them to see if they had changed, but he had already forgiven them, and he did not try to get back at them.

That’s God’s plan for you too.  He wants you to forgive others and to not try to hurt them back.  We are to let God punish those who hurt us.  He will do a much better job and it will keep us from getting into lots of trouble.

(Romans 12:17-21)

GOD’S PLAN FOR HEAVEN – God wants YOU to live there!

God lives in a wonderful place called heaven.  In heaven there is no pain or suffering.  No one ever dies.  There will be no sin in heaven – no lying, cheating, stealing, or fighting.  It is a place of total joy and happiness.  God wants everyone to go there and He made a way for us to go.

Since heaven is a perfect place, no sin is allowed there.  We are all sinners (we’ve done things that displease God, like lying, disobeying, etc.) so we have a problem.  Unless we can get rid of our sins we won’t be allowed into heaven.  The Bible tells us that the penalty for sin is death, being separated from God forever.  Being good will NOT take away the sins that you’ve done.  Neither will going to church.  The ONLY “payment” God will take for your sin is the shed blood of Jesus, God’s Son.  Because He loved you Jesus died in your place.  To go to heaven, you must:  Admit you are a sinner.  Believe that Jesus died in your place.   Commit your life to Him, accepting God’s GIFT of salvation.  Have you done that?  If not, why not now?
